Mick Norcross: Former Towie star took his own life, inquest rules

Nightclub proprietor and The Only Way Is Essex star Mick Norcross took his own life, a coroner has dominated.

The businessman and father of Kirk Norcross, who additionally appeared within the ITV present, was discovered lifeless at his residence in Bulphan at 15:15 GMT on 21 January.

The 57-year-old had monetary considerations, Chelmsford Coroner’s Court heard.

He had taken out a £3.6m financial institution mortgage and a bridging mortgage secured in opposition to his fundamental residence.

Insp Neil Armstrong of Essex Police advised the inquest that Mr Norcross had been concerned in three property developments that had been over schedule.

He stated Mr Norcross might have confronted “the loss of a lifetime’s work and potentially the family home… and it appeared that was weighing heavily on him”.

Mr Norcross first appeared on Towie in 2011 because the proprietor of the Sugar Hut nightclub in Brentwood.

In an announcement learn by the coroner, his son Kirk stated lockdown had modified him.

He stated his father had began sleeping within the mornings.

“It was almost like he had a black cloud over his head,” he stated.

“He would make passing comments, ‘this money is not worth this agg (aggravation), I’m better offing myself’.

“I by no means took this critically – I assumed he was simply joking.”

Mick Norcross’s partner Samantha Keahey said in a statement that he sold a Range Rover, an Aston Martin and a van and cashed in his private pension early.

“Mick has at all times supported his household so long as I’ve identified him and the considered not with the ability to assist his household frightened him,” she said.

Essex’s senior coroner Lincoln Brookes told the hearing: “He had been below an excessive amount of stress and I settle for the proof of his household that he was a really proud man who noticed himself as a supplier.”

The inquest concluded that Mr Norcross died by suicide.

The star posted a tweet to his 505,000 followers on the day he died, saying: “At the tip remind your self that you just did the perfect you can. And that is ok.”
